The Parent Tool Library

About

This is the free companion site to the book Parenting, Stage by Stage. It exists because a printed book cannot turn your answers into a sheet you can correct and print again.

Why it exists

A book can explain how to think about screens. It cannot sit with you while you and a twelve year old work out what your household is actually going to do about them, and it cannot print the result.

So the explanations, the warnings and everything that must never depend on a website stay in the book. The things you fill in live here, free, for anyone, whether or not they have read the book.

Who writes it

The book and the tools are written by Myx, a parent who spent a long time reading, comparing advice and trying to work out how to raise a child well, and then decided the notes were worth handing to other people.

Not a doctor, not a psychologist, not a lawyer, not a researcher. Where a question needs one of those, the tools say so and stop, rather than doing an impression of one.

What it costs and how it is paid for

The tools are free and stay free. There is no advertising, no affiliate link, no sponsorship, no newsletter and no paid tier. Nobody pays to be mentioned here, because nothing is mentioned here.

The site itself has nothing to sell. If store links for the book are added, they will be on the book page and nowhere else.

What this site deliberately does not do

No account, no profile, no child's data. No community, no comparison with other families, no streaks and no badges. No AI in the tools, and none planned: the site never sends a question anywhere on your behalf.

No monitoring, no device pairing, no parental control. A tool that helps you talk to your child should not also be helping you watch them.

Where the project is right now

Six tools, five printable sheets and the library that holds them are built. Every language on the site is written directly in that language from the substance of the book rather than translated from another page, then goes through two automated checks: an independent reading, and a comparison that looks for anything lost or added. The automated checks documented on this site do not replace the planned native-speaker and specialist reviews, which are still pending. No tool is marked Open. The method page says where the reviews stand, and each tool and sheet says on its own page where it stops and when to turn to a person.

More languages are planned in the architecture. Each one will be written the same way, never run through a translator, because a safety sentence that has been through a translator is a safety sentence nobody has checked.
